Main Roads WA North West Coastal Highway Project

Prestige Pump Rentals (PPR)

Project Owner: Main Roads WA

Head Contractor: Brierty Limited

Project Value: $218 million

The North West Coastal Highway Project was a major reconstruction and road upgrade of 150 kilometres of the North West Coastal Highway between Minilya and Barradale, including the construction of bridges at Cave Creek and Goodeman Creek.

This project was remotely located with limited communication and a swathe of other challenges.

Prestige Pumps Rentals (PPR) were engaged to design, construct and implement a highly efficient transfer system, providing construction water over great distances, with the objective of reducing client operational costs.

PPR provisioned a modern, reliable, safe and compliant rental fleet supported by highly experienced field personnel. Safety and emergency contact via satellite communications and personnel safety devices (GPS) were introduced to combat the tyranny of distance.

Environmental consultation, sought through MDW Environmental Services saw water samples taken for laboratory analysis. Treatment recommendations were made to combat salinity within construction water in compliance with AS1379 specification.

PPR also utilised 4WD mine spec vehicles, including a heavy crane truck to provide independent and reliable service throughout the project and aid the client in establishing initial project infrastructure.

With collaboration across the full scope of Mobile Dewatering Group’s services, a down-hole submersible system was customised to yield in excess of 14 litres per second from a 100 millimetre ID bore casing.

Results exceeded the Main Road’s WA expectations. PPR’s provision of a customised solution ensured seamless water production and supply throughout the project, and was a critical factor in the client’s ability to deliver on budget and within timeline.
